Rincon Update

School Communication

This is a reminder that if you need to speak with someone directly regarding a concern or questions you may have during the school closure, our attendance and registration staff will be checking messages remotely on the following phone number 520-232-5706. Leave a message and they will either call you back or forward your information to the appropriate personnel who will contact as quickly as possible. Be sure to leave your return phone number and your student’s name, which will help expedite further contact.

Last Day of “School”

The official last day for students to turn in any work with their teachers will be Thursday, May 20th. All students working from home trying to raise their 3rd Quarter Report Card grade, must be in communication with their teachers to ensure that all work is completed within the proper timelines designated by each teacher. Although the school closure due to social distancing protocols set forth by the state is not an ideal situation, this is a prime opportunity for students to be working remotely with their teachers to raise their grades if they did not have an A on the 3rd Quarter Report Card. Take advantage of this opportunity!

SENIOR INFORMATION

In order to celebrate our upcoming graduates, TUSD leadership is planning some special activities.

    1. All seniors on-track to graduate will be invited to Rincon to pick up Rincon Graduate yard signs that can be displayed in windows, balconies or your front yard, to show off that your household is proud to have a 2020 Ranger graduate. Rincon faculty and staff are planning to distribute these signs in a drive-through (or walk-through if you do not have a vehicle) fashion sometime during the week of May 10th practicing safe social distancing norms. More details on this will be forthcoming. Keep an eye on your emails for upcoming information.
    2. A Ranger Graduate Tribute will be aired on KOLD Channel 13 (exact date/time TBD) to showcase our 2020 Graduates. The program will be a 30-minute segment that contains speeches from our principal, valedictorian, salutatorian, and student body president, and will scroll through school photos of our graduates with their name read out loud by our counseling staff. This tribute will be also be streamed on Facebook and KOLD OTT. We are hoping this will provide a cool opportunity for families to safely gather to honor their 2020 graduates. Once we receive the exact date and time the tribute will be aired/streamed, we will inform families.
    3. TUSD is still hoping to conduct modified, in-person graduation ceremonies sometime in June for our students if it is safe to do so.
  • It is a requirement for our school to get 100% of our seniors to complete the following survey. Please ask your senior student to complete the survey.

Here is the link to the form "TUSD Senior Survey 2019-2020 " All graduating seniors (May and June) need to complete this  survey by Friday, May 15th. If you have questions please email Mrs. Bacal- Victoria.bacal@tusd1.org  Thank you.

Summer Programs-Registration information for the following programs be sent out once it is available.

  1. Credit Recovery: Students who have failed classes will have the opportunity to make-up lost credits this summer, in and online, blended model. There will be a fee associated with summer online courses. However, this is great opportunity for students who have fallen behind in their graduation progress to get caught up and recover credits. Students will complete the online Edgenuity courses paired with a highly qualified instructor utilizing ZOOM for tutorials and office hour support.
  2. AP Boot Camp: Students who are preparing to take honors and AP classes next year will most likely still be able to participate in the program utilizing online learning platforms while interacting with some Rincon’s honors and AP teachers. This program to help them to develop the skill necessary to be successful in rigorous classes.
  3. Freshman Academy: Incoming freshmen students will have the opportunity to interact with Rincon teachers while learning how to navigate the ins and outs of Rincon. Although this program will also be conducted online, students will get to know some of the Ranger faculty, learn study skills, and become acquainted with programs they will be utilizing at Rincon.

Finally, due to social restrictions, we still have not been able to plan dates for uniform/music/book returns, yearbook distribution and/or locker clean-out. We will coordinate this as soon as possible.

We miss you and hope everyone is staying healthy!!
