Campus Clean Up: Volunteer Opportunity

Please join our PTA to help beautify our campus November 2nd, from 9 a.m. to noon. Some of the gorgeous plants, painted trash cans, etc. are projects we work on during campus clean-up. This volunteer opportunity is a great way for students to build their resumes.

Halloween Costumes for Spooky Spirit Week

All costumes must abide by the TUSD dress code. Masks that cover students’ faces and/or make-up that makes a student undeniable are prohibited. Also, hand props such as wands, bats, pitch forks, etc. are NOT allowed.

New Official Transcript Request Process

See attachment for official instructions. Fee waivers are available for students in need.

College Application Resource Event

Join CAR at Rincon October 29th in the cafeteria at 6 p.m. to learn more about how to apply for college and what resources are available out there to help families get their children into college including financial aide, loans, etc. College can be a reality for ALL students. It’s just a matter of finding what will work for yours.

Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age

Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well.

Families and children from all over Southern Arizona are invited to view the critically acclaimed documentary Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age on Monday, October 28th at 6pm in the Rincon/University Auditorium.  A $5 donation per adult would be appreciated if possible, to help cover the fees of the rights to show the documentary, and the event is free to students and guests under 18.

ASVAB Date Correction

The ASVAB for Rincon seniors was moved to February 14th. This will allow students opportunities to take practice exams. Please see Mrs. Bacal if you are interested in practicing. All senior students will have the opportunity to test. If there are any juniors who are extremely interested in testing this year, as well, please see your counselor.

Rincon TWO Week Update

September 29-October 12th

This week is a short week leading up to Fall Break. There is NO SCHOOL, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4th. Then, students have the entire next week off: NO SCHOOL, OCTOBER 6th-12th.

Students must have all work handed in early this week to ensure teachers have time to grade it prior to the end of the grading period. Please make sure you utilize this last weekend before the midterm report card comes out, to be getting all work completed to hand in early next week! Mid term report cards will be mailed out over the Fall Break. Expect to see them in your mail by the end of the week. If you don’t see one, the grades in ParentVUE will be up-to-date, official midterm grades on Monday, October 14th.

Planning Ahead…

October 16th: All freshmen, sophomore and junior students will be taking the PSAT for FREE during our regularly scheduled school day. Students need to be in their assigned testing classroom ON TIME at 8:00 a.m. If students are late, they risk missing out on this opportunity to practice and see where they stand related to their SAT scores.

October 16th: All Seniors will be scheduled to take the state mandated CPR course that is REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION. Once this new state mandated rolled out, Rincon has begun ensuring that all students are CPR trained in their health classes. However, this year’s seniors did not receive this training, so it is imperative seniors are present to ensure their transcript for graduation reflects that they have received and passed the training. Again, this is a state mandated graduation requirement.

Once CPR training is complete, speakers from the College Application Resource will be coming to present to seniors about all of the ins/outs of the college process.

October 16th & 30th: Josten’s, our graduation regalia partners, will be on campus Wednesday, 10/16 to pass out order form information for graduation caps, gowns and more. They will then return on Wednesday, 10/30 take orders. On the 30th, they will set up outside the administration building to take orders during lunch. They will then return from 5-7 p.m. for a Josten’s sponsored Senior Parent Order night. This gives parents and guardians the opportunity to come in to go over the order, see items such as class rings, graduation gowns, etc. in person and to ask questions about what is needed. Please note this date was originally set for September 30th but has been changed to October 30th.

November 2nd: Campus Clean Up. Join our PTA to help beautify our campus while giving back to our community. We can use as many volunteers as possible. All are welcome to join. Make it a family fun event. 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Ongoing: If you are too busy to be an active member of our PTA but would love to help the support the PTA in other ways, please contact Laura Grijalva at 520-977-0494 or Juana Ambrose at 520-232-5603 for more information. For instance, our PTA hosts a monthly teacher breakfast to thank our teacher for their service. We could use food donations that could be dropped off the day before or the morning of each breakfast. You’re donations would be a great addition and are welcomed with open arms.

New Process for Requesting Official Transcripts: To obtain official transcripts, please log into https://Parchment.com.  Students must register and pay a fee. If you need help walking through this process, do not hesitate to contact the Rincon registrar, Areli Zapata at 232-5615.
